Everybody has very specific ideas of what the perfect feature set for DOCman would be. So what might seem like an essential feature to you, might be useless to someone else. It's impossible to add everything to the DOCman core -- it would become way too complex.

Joomla! doesn't have a built-in forum, guestbook or document management system, but they can be added through extensions. The same thing is true for DOCman: it provides basic functionality, but can easily be extended with add-ons.

If you can't find with you need in offical or third-party add-ons, you can develop the features yourself or find someone to do it for you.
